Let me tell you a story of a little girl who used to make jewelry with flowers from her father’s greenhouse. When she realized the jewelry didn’t last for more than a day she searched for other materials in her mother’s sewing box where she found safety pins, buttons and beads. And so she continued making jewelry.. I think that by now you’ve guessed who this girls is. Yes, it’s me! My passion for making jewelry didn’t end there. After I graduated in high school I traveled the world to buy beads and stones in Turkey, Italy, Thailand, China, Indonesia and more. After a few more years I figured I wanted to make jewelry that can travel the world with me and last forever, or at least for a very long time. That’s when I started working with silver and gold, and that’s when our, Fleur and mine, jewelry line IVY & LIV was born. Of course the story doesn’t end here, because the little girl with the big dreams is still within me. I don’t know what my next step will be, but I do know that one day I will make jewelry with diamonds! That is why I was so touched when Dutch sisters Lieke van Lexmond en Jetteke van Lexmond launched their jewelry collection for Royal Asscher: LEXMOND VS LEXMOND. I saw a dream of two girls come true and I am very happy for them. Congratulations ladies! The jewelry are AMAZING. Not going to say a word more about it, just watch. Watch and dream…
I feel like I'm running non-stop for quite some time now. It is for a reason that my last name is Machine :P Inspiring people, sales meetings and creative brainstorm sessions are part of my every day occupation. But finding balance between work, work, work and study can be a challenge, a very pleasant one though! As you might have noticed I haven't been blogging much lately, but I've decided to continue to blog on a more regular base because I simply find it very much fun. I took some time to think about what I really want to do with my blog and that is to share with you my style diary; from interior design and styling to fashion and inspirational visuals. More about that soon! So you're thinking: why has she pared down that beautiful black suit with sneakers? BECAUSE: I want to dress classy and powerful but I simply can't run around Amsterdam on my heels! I need my sneakers to race on my bike, jump over puddles of water (always rainy here) and drag my bags with jewelry. READY. SET. GO!
I'm wearing: suit Bellerose | wool coat unknown | sneakers Puma Trinomic
One of the things I learned during my study, is how to puzzle the practical functions of a bathroom into an esthetical function. But what I learned during my internship and later work experiences is that a bathroom is to be considered a living room where one spends quite some time every day. Therefore I don't like a bathroom to be entirely tiled from floor to ceiling, like I see in 99% of the cases. It is simply not necessary to tile all the walls but just the surface where it is essential, like in the shower. I prefer to paint the walls that remain untiled and finish them with a varnish. Then, decorate with the right furniture and bathroom accessories and I'll have my dream bathroom like the one above from Patricia Urquiola for Axor. One day...
Happy new year lovely's! This look was shot for Amayzine.com on the last day of December. It was a sunny winter day and I felt like dressing comfortable because that night was new years eve, which meant it was going to be a long and crazy night! I often prefer sweaters from the men's department because I like the way they fit. See the full report here.
I'm currently making new plans for my blog, so I hope to inform you very soon about the progress :)
Hi everybody! I'm proudly showing you a few pictures of the fresh new IVY & LIV x Roxanne Dekker lookbook. During the shooting of the lookbook, Dutch artist Roxanne Dekker painted on the song of Lana del Rey: This Is What Makes Us Girls. See how lovely the collaboration turned out here. I love the colors, the jewelry and especially the girls. They are the best!
